Wanderlust Theatre Co. gets the 2015 ball rolling at Theatre 810

First off, I'd like to remind everyone that this is the final weekend to see Lauren Reilly-Elliot's production of Arthur Miller's DEATH OF A SALESMAN at Cite Des Arts. The last shows will take place on Friday, January 30 and Saturday, January 31 at 7:30pm and Sunday, February 1 at 2pm. Tickets are $15. This show is the first production in this year's Arthur Miller Centennial Theatre Festival.

Back at Theatre 810, Wanderlust Theatre Co. will move in this weekend to prepare for Lawrence & Lee's INHERIT THE WIND!
In a fresh, modern, multimedia retelling of a small town courtroom with the eyes of the nation upon it, two legal giants face off over the age-old conflict between science and faith.

This diverse, twenty-five person ensemble varies in age fourteen to eighty, novice to seasoned. Cara Hayden Bacque plays Madison Brady with Duncan Thistlethwaite as Henry Drummond. Aren Chaisson III portrays the teacher, Bertram Cates, with Elizabeth Satterly's Rachel Brown caught in the mix.

The shows will take place February 5,7, 12-14 at 7:30 pm with one matinee on Sunday, February 8 at 3 pm with talk back session to follow. Tickets are $15/general admission, $12/students with ID & seniors over 65.

For ticket reservations, call (337) 484-0172 or purchase online at inheritthewind.eventbrite.com

Silverbacks Present: Deep Focus, circa 1990-1999

Silverbacks Improv Theatre have enjoyed presenting special concept shows such as Soap Operas, Murder Msteries, and Noirs. Next Wednesday, January 28th, the group will expand its repertoire into “90’s Sitcom” territory. The group will improvise a one-act play inspired by classic 90’s television shows, such as Full House, Family Matters, Home Improvement and more.

They call it: Step by Step Family Improvement Full of Ties in the Wonder Years when a Boy Meets World - "A 90s Sitcom" – Featuring MONIQUE (not that Monique).

Costumed in their best 90’s apparel, the performers will embrace the golden age of family sitcoms (or the lowest sitcoms of all time, depending on your perspective). Family hijinks, wacky neighbors, precocious kids, blended families, and coming of age – all are ripe for the picking at this one-time-only improvised event.

Mark Your Calendars!

2015 is here, and things are pretty quiet a Theatre 810 for the moment.

...But that won't last for long!

On Wednesday, January 28th, Silverbacks Improv Theatre will help us ring in the New Year with their monthly improv show! The show will start at 7:30 and tickets can be purchased at the door for $7 (or $5 with a current student ID).

For the first two weekends in February, Wanderlust Theatre Co. (who brought you MR. BURNS in December) will return to Theatre 810 to present Lawrence & Lee's INHERIT THE WIND.

This is the second production in the 2014-15 Wanderlust season. It follows last season's popular productions of Steinbeck's Of Mice & Men and the first annual outdoor Shakespeare production of Comedy of Errors which was held at Johnson's Boucaniere, among others.

And them Mardi Gras will be upon us! If your spot on the parade route is near us, stop in at 810 for bottled water between parades.

Once the Mardi Gras barricades have been cleared out, Acting Unlimited will bring you the regional premiere of Rory Jobst's SUPER-WELLESIAN.

In Superman issue #62, legendary filmmaker Orson Welles appears as himself. With the help of the Man of Steel, Orson takes down a ruthless army of Martian Fascists. Super-Wellesian reconnects these two characters to record a radio drama version of their exciting adventure. Much to Welles' dismay, Acting is not one of Superman's powers and conquering Martians may not be the duo’s biggest challenge after all.

The cast includes several familiar faces in the Acadiana theatre community: Michael Cato as Superman, Casey Harmon as Orson Welles, Amy Brown as Lois Lane, Tim Hyde as Jackson Beck, and Erik Schneider as famed Martian Actor, Clark Marble.

The show's dates are February 20, 21, 26-28 at 7:30pm with a matinee on Sunday, February 22 at 3:00pm. Tickets are $10. For ticket reservations, call (337) 484-0172 or order online at auisuperwellesian.eventbrite.com
